The Petpeswick Yacht Club (PYC) is a small but vibrant club on the northeast shores of the Petpeswick Inlet in East Petpeswick (Musquodoboit Harbour), Nova Scotia. Our first priority is to promote water-based sports and recreation and we do this at PYC by providing docking, moorings, and yard storage for boaters as well as Learn to Sail programs, kayaking, paddle boarding, and Lightning races. Our second priority is to provide a beautiful community centre for various types of social events and activities that will strengthen our sense of community and keep our inhabitants fit and healthy. To support our goals, the clubhouse is available for hourly / daily rentals as well as special event rentals such as weddings, celebrations, parties, and meetings.
With sport and recreation and family and community in mind, PYC is the ideal location to enjoy the waters and the beauty of the surrounding area.
In 1966, a group of local individuals who enjoyed sailing decided to create a yacht club as an official body to ensure the continuation of recreational sailing on the Petpeswick Inlet. Today, this particular objective is most clearly demonstrated through our Learn to Sail Program, the only one of its kind on the Eastern Shore, for youth ranging in age from 5 to 18 years of age. Over these 50 years, we have grown and expanded our objectives to include all sorts of water-based sports and recreational activities which are popular with all age groups, and particularly popular with women. We have grown in our determination to be a community center offering social events and activities that promote fitness, health, and a sense of belonging and well-being.
In 1971, the current clubhouse was built on the yacht club premises. Renovations and improvements to the clubhouse over the years have allowed us to expand our programs, events, and services and the income from the clubhouse supports the marina facilities, helping to keep boating member costs as low as possible.
